For this episode, we will be learning more about United Way of Portage County with the new CEO, Fred Hebblewhite. This episode was recorded in front of a live audience on the Stevens Point Campus. Fred is actually a Mid-State alum, graduating from an Auto Body program many years ago. He soon realized that wasn’t his calling, so he went back to school for business and found success in marketing for a regional grocery store. While occasionally standing in the entrance asking customers questions, Fred learned the power of listening to the community. When asked to join the United Way to work in resource development, it was the perfect opportunity for him. He’s now been there for almost 17 years and was recently promoted to lead the organization.
